The Department of Medical Services and Techniques began its academic activities in the 2008–2009 academic year with the “Medical Documentation and Secretarial Program” and the “First Aid and Emergency Care Program.” In the 2011–2012 academic year, the evening education of the “First Aid and Emergency Care Program” was introduced. With the decision of the School Council dated 04.12.2012, the “Anesthesia Program” was launched in the 2013–2014 academic year, followed by the “Medical Laboratory Techniques Program” in the 2021–2022 academic year.
The aim of the Department of Medical Services and Techniques at İvrindi Vocational School of Health Services is to train qualified healthcare professionals who, in parallel with the development of the healthcare sector in our country, can accurately identify and address health problems in emergency healthcare services; possess both theoretical and practical knowledge; are familiar with professional terminology; can use hospital automation systems; communicate effectively with patients and their relatives; and assist physicians during anesthesia procedures in surgical operations.
As of today, the department also offers a Double Major Program, enabling students who successfully complete their associate degree programs in their primary field to pursue an additional associate degree in a second field. This process is carried out in accordance with the “Regulation on the Principles of Transfer Between Associate Degree and Undergraduate Programs, Double Major, Minor, and Credit Transfer Between Institutions” and the “Balıkesir University Double Major Program Directive.”
